Veterans Health Care Funding Must Be Sufficient, Timely & Predictable

America’s 24 million veterans dedicated everything to serving our country.  They trusted that if they stood behind their country, their country would stand behind them.

Tragically, the government’s support for sick and disabled veterans is under constant threat each year.  The current funding mechanism for veterans’ health care is unreliable and subject to political posturing, cost-cutting and budget gimmicks.

The Partnership for Veterans Health Care Budget Reform supports legislation in Congress that guarantees sufficient, timely and predictable funding for veterans health care.   A change is necessary to ensure that all eligible veterans – including those injured in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere – have timely access to the quality medical care they need and deserve.

NEWS ALERT!
The Partnership, a coalition of 36 other veterans and military organizations, and the nation's largest federal union, praise Senate and House Veterans' Affairs Committee leaders for introducing bipartisan bills on February 12, 2009 to reform the VA budget process to assure sufficient, timely and predictable funding for veterans' health care programs.

"More often than not the federal budget is not passed on time... such practices degrade services at the point of care."

Dr. Ken Kizer, former VA Under Secretary of Health, July 2007
